4SA Development Update Oct. 2023

Hello everyone, Cardigan here with an update on the current state of the project.

As you have seen, we could not put out a playable build this month. Even though, we have said the game would not necessarily update monthly, I would still like to apologize and, above all, thank everyone for their patience.

That said, there's no reason to fret! Writing-wise the story is done, even edited. New songs and backgrounds that will also be making an appearance have been chosen. Plus, what coding there is left to do, is coming along nicely. So, you might be wondering: what's keeping us from release? Well, my friends, the answer is simple (and quite complicated).

WE ARE GETTING SPRITES!!!

That's right, Nicko, after reading the first build, came to me with a proposition to make more art for the game, and for now that means he will be making art for the characters in the game. Hope you all enjoy his interpretations of Dylan, Andrew and Jean-Claude (who will receive particular focus come next build).

As you can see, those aren't finalized as of yet. Nicko has a life of his own of course, and that has made it hard to progress this month. However, we believe they will be worth the wait, as he puts a lot of effort into these sprites and making them look just right for the game.

We cannot yet give definitive release dates yet, but you can expect a release come November. I won't be working on a hypothetical third build as I will be participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge, which should take most of my time for the month. Rest assured, however, that as soon as the sprites are ready to go, we will be releasing build 2, featuring the second chapter of the story. Oh, and for those who worried about the first build's length, know that this one will be nearly twice as long.

That's all for now. I again thank you for your interest, comments, reviews, and patience. Hopefully, I will see you come next build.

As always, take care and see you soon.
